Be sure to bring your best photojournalism photos on a flash drive! Also, don’t forget to bring your prints with you for the October print contest. The contests for prints are Black & White, Nature, Color, Photojournalism, Travel, and Creative. Please make sure they are labeled on the back with your name, member number, club name, print name, and category. If it is in the travel category, it also has to have where the photo was taken. If you have questions, please let us know. Looking forward to seeing you there where names become faces and faces become friends.

May 2012 Meeting

Wow! It’s hard to believe that April is almost over.We had a great time judging the Creative Print category this month. Thank you to Bob Wright, Richard Nelson, and Pam Carmichael for taking the time out of their busy schedules to judge the contest. Also, a big thank you to everyone else who came out and helped out. Without your help, we would have been there much longer than we were. Thank you for all your help!!!! Now onto this month.…We are meeting in the Anton Room at the Topeka-Shawnee County Library on May 1st at 6:30 p.m. You are welcome to participate or just come and learn about Topeka Camera Club.

Our program and photo theme for this meeting will be “Generating Next Year’s Themes & Programs”. If you have theme or program ideas please summit photographs for this discussion.  You have two choices for entering: printed photographs or digital images for projection.  Most of us enter digital images for projection.  If you choose to enter digital images, you may bring them on a disc, USB drive or email them to Scott.  In order to prepare the computer slide show, please email Scott no more then three images by 4:00 PM Tuesday evening, May 1. Please make sure the files are correctly formatted and labeled before you send them. If you have questions about formatting and labeling, please see the Monthly Photo Contest Requirements on this website. If you would like to enter the print categories, please bring your prints with you to the meeting. The categories for print are Color Print, Nature, Black & White, and Photojournalism. Print size for Photojournalism is no larger than 8x12 and if mounted, make sure it is a lightweight mount. All other categories the maximum size is 16 x 20. They can be mounted and/or matted but do not have to be until they win 1st, 2nd, 3rd, or honorable mention. You also need to label each print with the title of the print, category, member number, maker’s name, and the camera club on the back side of the mount in the upper left corner. We can send up to 8 per category. So far the most we have had is 6 in Color Prints and Photojournalism. Because we judged the Creative Prints category this month, we can enter 16 entries next month. While we don’t normally enter this contest, we are planning on entering it in May. We will also talk about Springbrook, look at last months N4C entries and talk about and elect Officers Positions for next year. We are looking forward to seeing all your photos at the meeting where names become faces and faces become friends.
